I am happy to offer some free downloads of my favourites from the past, however, recent recordings are not posted here because they are for sale by the various ensembles I work with.

Please contact me if you would like to hear more recent work, or examples of my playing in a specific genre.

Three tunes from experimental improvisation ensemble Apparatus:
Please Hold (6.9MB)
By exposing the absurdity of automated telephone directory systems, this piece takes issue with the notion that technology necessarily improves quality of life.
Todd Biffard (drums), Tyler Emond (bass), Kiran Sachdev (guitar), Nick Buligan (trumpet),
Mike Glendon (sax)

Yellow (9.6MB)
Completely improvised, this piece is the band's interpretation of the colour yellow.   Unbeknownst to the musicians, I used essential oils to emit a lemon scent into the studio while recording.
Todd Biffard (drums), Tyler Emond (bass), Kiran Sachdev (guitar), Nick Buligan (trumpet),
Mike Glendon (sax)

Stonebone (5.5MB)
This tune is a groove-oriented improvisation, where the musicians are given a series of rhythm patterns without pitch.   Responsibility for calling the next rhythm goes around the room as the band plays.   Each player makes his own pitch choices.   I don't know what "Stonebone" actually means; I heard the expression on a Steve Coleman recording and thought it sounded cool.
Todd Biffard (drums), Tyler Emond (bass), Kiran Sachdev (guitar), Nick Buligan (trumpet),
Mike Glendon (sax), Adam Teixeira (percussion), Dan Corbett (trombone)

Jay's Pushups (1.5MB)
In April 2005 I recorded the soundtrack for the feature-length film "Most Guys Today."  All the music was composed by Kiran Sachdev and recorded at Thinkmusic studios in Toronto.  Here is one of the tunes from that session.
Todd Biffard (drums), Drew Birston (bass), Kiran Sachdev (guitar),
Tim Hart (trumpet), Pat MacGibbon (sax)

Bollywood Calypso (1.0MB)
In June 2005, Kiran Sachdev again hired me to assist with a submission to the National Film Board of Canada.  He was asked to compose some music that combined elements of calypso and Bollywood!  I laid down all the percussion tracks in his home studio.
Todd Biffard (percussion), Kiran Sachdev (sitar, guitar)

I Should Care (3.6MB)
Vocalist Kristina Nojd hired me to lay down the tracks for her August 2004 album, recorded at Last Ounce studios in Toronto.
Todd Biffard (drums), Kristina Nojd (vocals), Tyler Emond (bass), Nevin Campbell (piano)

Starlab (13.3MB)
In September 2004 I participated in an improvised session inside the planetarium at the Ontario Science Centre.  We recorded over 2 hours of music in the dark while the stars orbited our heads.  On our way out, I sampled the voice from a moon display, and when we mixed the session down, the voice ended up making the cut!
Todd Biffard (drums & percussion), Adam Teixeira (drums & percussion), Kiran Sachdev (guitar),
Kevin Braun (bass), Daniel Walsh (sax)

Head Over Heels (5.0MB)
While living in Ottawa, I had lots of fun playing with the short-lived band Humble.   John Jastremski wrote some good original songs; this one was recorded in his basement in March 2001.
Todd Biffard (drums), John Jastremski (vocals, guitar), Rob Rochefort (bass)

What I Say (11.3MB)
In Montreal I played with The Helmholtz Resonators.  This jam, based on a Miles Davis classic from the Live/Evil album, was typical of the band's style.  Recorded at the McGill music department, October 1998.
Todd Biffard (drums), Blake Markle (bass), Kiran Sachdev (guitar)
